A Brief Pictorial Introduction to Katherina Minardo’s Recent Projects and Works

THE WARRIOR:

See how this work was created:
How this 31500 kg block travelled 900 km from Trani in the toe of Italy to Tuscany and Katherina’s studio…

…how it became this…

…and this — the head has been carved from inside the helmet…

…and how before completion was lifted…

…and travelled to its inaugural exhibition space in the Piazza del Duomo in Pietrasanta, Tuscany.

Sharing the Piazza with THE WARRIOR were Mitoraj (hollow head at right), Botero (standing figure rear centre), Sophia Vari (white and black bronze far centre right), and Deredia (distant left).

Months later, it returned to the studio for finishing, then starred with dancer Timofej Andrijashenko of La Scala, Milano.

THE GUARDIAN:

A few years earlier, THE GUARDIAN had begun its journey from inside the marble mountain at nearby Carrara…

See how this block…

…gradually began to take shape…

…in Katherina’s hands…

Subsequently, after docking in the Port of Montreal, THE GUARDIAN was successfully lifted from the shipping crate and mounted…
