Katherina Minardo, Sculptor

Home of THE GUARDIAN, THE WARRIOR, and THE PRINCE

THE BRITISH MUSEUM, LONDON, ENGLAND

1997

In the year 2000 one of Katherina’s works from the 1982 Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition was deposited with the British Museum, and has graced the Department of Coins and Medals ever since.

The image above shows Katherina Minardo at the British Museum with Joe Cribb, then Curator of Asian Currencies and subsequently Keeper (Head) of the Department of Coins & Medals, together with Virginia Hewitt, Curator of Paper Money. It was taken at the opening of the HSBC Money Gallery at the British Museum Access to Excellence, in 1997. This brand new gallery represented a major step forward for the Museum, entirely funded by the HSBC. It enabled the Museum to place some of its treasures — and some of its lesser materials as well — in a conceptual format.
