Home of THE GUARDIAN, THE WARRIOR, and THE PRINCE

HOMO FABER EXHIBITION, PIETRASANTA, TOSCANA, ITALY, “THE WARRIOR”.

2014

Ultimately three “Guardians” were carved, after which Katherina turned her energies to creating a massive new work, to be titled “The Warrior (War & Peace)”. This was created from a massive block, brought 900 km (560 miles) from the south of Italy, and was not yet completed as the commencement of the 2014 Homo Faber Exhibition approached.

While her husband did not wish to display it unfinished, both Katherina and her studio manager/artisan Massimo Galleni was determined to exhibit it in the square. It is just as well that William’s opinion was overridden; as one competing artist commented to Katherina later that year, “Your work had three thousand photographs” and drew remarkable attention at this event.

“The Warrior” is the sculpture that the Government of Malta has requested for its harbour.
