1990 saw no less than three events on Katherina’s Asian Tour. The first was held across the Sea at Kuala Lumpur in peninsular Malaysia. This at the National Art Gallery from 5th to 15th March. It overlapped with an exhibition also held at the Museum by the noted American artist Robert Rauschenberg. As he was the senior performer, he was able to arrange to have the current King (Malaysia rotates Kings every five years) at his event.
Katherina had as Guest of Honour Datuk Dr Siti Zahara, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, together with the Canadian High Commissioner (ambassador) Garrett Lambert.
Despite the competition next door, the head of the British Council declared Katherina’s exhibition to be the finest event of the year!
Souvenir invitation cards had been printed in Canada and provided to all the guests for the next event, the opening scheduled only a few days later.
As soon as Kuala Lumpur exhibition closed, the works were again crated and flown to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, Borneo, for the next event.
