THE YOUNG PHAROAH

PHARAOH-1-KMPH14

THE YOUNG PHARAOH is in process of carving in Pietrasanta as we speak. The original work, totally hand-carved by Katherina appears above. This piece was originally intended for Katherina’s scheduled 2013 exhibition at the National Museum in Jakarta. The work is comprised of two blocks of imported stone: the first is black African granite known as “nero assoluto”.

The second is of “verdi Guatemala”.

Interestingly the sculptor’s recently-completed THE PRINCE was composed of five different blocks of stone, of which two parts were also used for this work.

The finished work will stand approximately 1m (40 inches) high, and have a cross-section also measuring 1m or 40 inches. The weight of the two original blocks dedicated for this piece is not currently available. The sculpted weight has presently not yet been estimated.

Images of the work in progress will be posted from time to time.
